Video: Why do you do service? It's our heritage; a part of the Martin Family genetic makeup! Jeff's great grandfather began by doing service. His grandfather did service for many years before he decided to begin selling new appliances in 1968. As our client, you deserve our best efforts to keep your appliances working so you can go about your life without worrying about machinery! We owe that to you! Doing service helps us know what to sell! If we were just a retail operation, we might be tempted to become like Giant Big Box stores and just sell things. Our service experience teaches us what works and what doesn't! That's why you can count on us when we tell you a certain machine is worth your hard-earned dollar. We are determined to give you good advice so you will come again and refer family and friends to us.
What does it cost? Highly trained technicians who dedicate themselves to making your life easier are worth their weight in gold! But it doesn't cost you that much for us to put an expert in your home. Expenses are skyrocketing for businesses these days with the cost of fuel, insurance and fees. But we have managed to hold the line on the cost of service at Martin Appliance Family. Putting an expert in your home for a professional diagnosis only costs $79.95. If you choose to bring the machine to us for diagnosis, the Bench Fee is $45.00. We note with curiosity that one national service outfit charges $39.00 for a service call - but a diagnosis is another $50! And that still does not get your appliance fixed! We do not have an hourly fee, but have written a rate book with charges for every repair under the sun! You will KNOW with certainty the actual cost of fixing your appliance before we begin. ![]() Can I fix it myself? An extensive knowledge of electricity and mechanics will serve you well if you plan to attempt repairs. But remember, each appliance is put together differently. Even getting it apart to attempt a diagnosis is dicey. It is impossible for us to "walk you through" repairing an appliance. If you feel you can do it, be very careful to be sure you are safe and those who use the appliance afterward are safe as well! Probably 90% of the folks who call to tell us what is happening with their appliance have it wrong. "My washer won't spin. I need to get a new timer. How much does one cost?" This person should NOT even begin to attempt a repair! Most of our clients tell us it is cheaper to have us fix it right than it is for them to spend all afternoon trying to get it apart and figure it out and run here and there to find parts that may or may not be what is wrong!
